Our instructors teach on practical subject areas and not just generic topics. For example: “Excel Pivot tables for Data analytics” is a better topic than “Excel for beginners”. The WIISE LMS platform offers multiple options for learner interaction. We have a standard “Chat” and “QnA” option, where learner posts their doubt. Once query is posted, you will receive notification and you may respond.

At WIISE we offer multiple courses, there are possibility that multiple Instructors may offer similar courses. However we aim to have less conflicting courses, so that learners can make easy choice.

We treat your course as a product, where our teams work in unison with you to develop awesome course content. This is a partnership where both partners co-invest in mutual success. The revenue share starts from the first sale. We do not offer up-front payment for course creation.

Yet at certain times, we shall reach you for certain inputs. You will not have to respond to the learners on real time basis.
Business Model/ Revenue Share model
What is your Business Model? How does Instructor earn on WIISE?
Primarily through Royalties.
WIISE offers Premium membership to learners for access to the library of courses (similar to Skillshare). WIISE distributes at least 50% of its revenue as “royalty pool” to WIISE IPP Partners on a monthly basis. Within the royalty pool, instructor payments are awarded in direct proportion to the monthly consumption of each instructor’s course(es).
We have decided to operate under a subscription/ membership model, which means that learners pay a flat monthly fee ($10/month* with a monthly plan, or $96/year with an annual plan*) for a Premium Membership, which includes unlimited access to our entire catalog of Library of courses and other Premium features like offline viewing through our mobile app.
*the pricing and packaging is subject to change
We create a Royalty pool from the monthly Premium membership earnings for our Partner Instructors. 50% of the monthly premium membership earnings is allocated to the Royalty pool. The remaining 50%goes towards our operating costs. Specifically, this helps us to cover for staff expenses (such as salaries and benefits), technology maintenance (like server and video hosting), sales & marketing, R&D and others.
We aim to reward the Instructors accurately based on their level of course quality and engagement with learners. Within the royalty pool, Instructor payments are awarded in direct proportion to the monthly consumption of each instructor’s course(es).
- Each month, WIISE will calculate the total monthly subscription fees paid by Premium members currently subscribed to Our Library Subscription program (“Subscription Revenue”).
- Fifty percent (50%) of this Subscription Revenue will be allocated to Instructors Royalty pool (“Total Instructor Royalty Pool”), pro-rata, as further described below.
- Each month, WIISE will calculate the aggregate minutes consumed by all Students subscribed to the Library Subscription program (“Total Subscription Minutes Consumed”).
- Each month, WIISE will also calculate how many minutes out of the Total Subscription Minutes Consumed are attributable to each of Your individual Course(s) participating in the Library Subscription program (“Total Individual Course Minutes”).
- Your revenue share each month will be calculated as follows: Total Instructor Royalty Pool multiplied by (Total Individual Course Minutes divided by Total Subscription Minutes Consumed) = Your revenue share
On WIISE, instructors earn between $2-4 per Premium enrollment.
Based on our projections, we estimate the following annual growth of instructor revenue. The calculations are done on 5% of enrolment towards your course per month. We estimate our premium memberships to grow at rate of 5 – 7% per week. We also estimate a 10x growth in enrolments years on year.
Why did we NOT choose a per course pricing structure?
We believe our model is disruptive and first time used in Learning Industry. We have been in business in India and South East Asian markets for 5 years since our origins. We have studied the markets very intently. The strengths of these markets are the Volume, we have large population of unaddressed market, hence poses a wonderful opportunity. The weakness/ challenge in these markets are the “price sensitivity”, we have realised that the population is very sensitive to the pricing rather than the quality. Of course not denying the fact that there are sub segments which are possibly sensitive to quality than the pricing.
At WIISE, we aim to target the large unaddressed population with digital learning intervention. Hence we have to adopt a pricing strategy that is acceptable by the market segment. We have therefore decided to stay away from the per course model.
Our research has suggested that reasonable monthly subscription model is better to offer. Several businesses such as Telecom, Digital TV etc has been successful.
We accept the fact that the above model may not be suitable to several Instructors, however we encourage our Instructors to take advantage of the “Volume” factor.
How do I know the performance of my courses and my income?
All Instructors shall be having an Instructor account, where they will be able to login and see their courses, performances, income generated. They can also answer learner queries, connect/ engage with the learners.
How will you ensure that my courses are Secure on your platform?
Technology protection – It is in our own business interest to ensure strict security protocol in our technology platform. Here is what we are doing.
WIISE provides the control and visibility features that Instructors need. Behind the scenes is a secure, sophisticated infrastructure built to protect your important files while being transferred, stored, and processed. Our information security management framework is designed to assess risks and build a culture of security at WIISE. We have added features such as Single SignOn (SSO), Mobile phone verification, i.e. userid locked to a particular device, prohibition of user signs from multiple devices or multiple sources.
WIISE is designed with multiple layers of protection, including secure data transfer, encryption, network configuration, and application-level controls distributed across a scalable, secure infrastructure. Distributing your encrypted files logically and spreading other data across multiple services not only makes syncing faster and more reliable, but also enhances security.
WIISE file data is encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). To protect data in transit between WIISE apps (currently desktop, mobile, API, or web) and our servers, WIISE uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) for data transfer, creating a secure tunnel protected by 128-bit or higher Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption.
Does your platform allow students to download videos for later, offline viewing?
Currently, we are not offering the offline viewing for the videos. But in coming releases, we will have option of offline viewing the videos to the app data folders.
In our first release we will not have the feature, but very soon we shall launch the feature for Offline viewing. The offline viewing is only possible in the device that the user is registered with. The content cannot be ported out of the device, the data will be nonfunctional.
If so, are these videos encrypted or protected in any way to prevent usage outside of your own platform?
The videos are encrypted as well as the folders are protected and can only be accessible from our mobile App. The videos cannot be downloaded or shared with anyone. Only the mobile app has the permissions and possibility to play the videos which are downloaded. You cannot even see the files of the video in any of your android file managers. The technology is similar to other apps such as Skillshare or Udemy are using.
How can I manage to work with country of jurisdiction of India?
Country of jurisdiction – We are headquartered currently in India, we are also incorporated in UK (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10540705, #RegNo. 10540705). However from operational perspective it is a business decision to operate ourselves from India, as that gives us plenty of opportunities in the markets we operate. We operate our company as an Multi-national and I can assure complete confidence in doing business with us.
To add to our recent accolades, we were awarded Best Emerging Learning Platform by INDO-GLOBAL INDUS FOUNDATION, an US-based non-profit entity recently.
However, if you are particularly keen we can develop a customised Agreement with you and have country of jurisdiction in UK.
When will my course be launched?
Once your course is developed, and made marketable, we are ready to Publish on our portal.
What is your Target audience?
Our primary country markets are Indian subcontinent (India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Bhutan) and South East Asian countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Phiippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, Thailand).
Our primary business is towards B2B, to colleges and corporates. We have sales & marketing network in India through our own 50+ franchise centres. We have created innovative partnerships in Singapore and Vietnam.
How much Marketing and promotional activities you do?
We are continuously doing digital marketing through our Social platforms
However, as our current focus is B2B sales, our marketing efforts are limited and we focus BIG Volume sales through traditional face2face marketing and sales. We believe that in the markets we operate, traditional marketing and sales are very effective.
